Caren Calafati, Watercolorist Grantham, New Hampshire and Hilton Head Island South Carolina. Master of Arts at Dartmouth College Hanover, New Hampshire.

Art specialty area is the watercolor medium employing varying techniques and other medium such as varnish with watercolor. As part of her Master of Arts degree, Caren majored in art history and created a national touring opera company Through the Opera Glass. Her graphic designs and set designs for this project have won national awards and recognition. The watercolors have been displayed in juried exhibits such as the Coastal Art Museum of Hilton Head Island (juried by the Telfair Museum of Savannah, Georgia). She has exhibited in numerous gallery locations primarily in the Northeast and the Southeast. Most recently, art has been exhibited at the Red Roof Gallery in Enfield, New Hampshire for the annual flower art show and featured in Art in Bloom, a gardener’s showcase. The Inn at Marshland Farm in Vermont, the Gallery at New London, NH Hospital.  AVA Gallery and Artful Things in Lebanon, New Hampshire. During the winter/spring 2009 Caren demonstrated
watercolor techniques at the Palm Key Institute (SC) artists on the porch event.

Instructors beyond graduate school have included Nita Engle and Chris Unwin at the Hilton Head Art League and Alex Sharma (University of Toronto) Hilton Head Art League. A complete list of exhibitions and instructors is available from the artist.

Caren Calafati MA, is a certified art teacher and has taught art appreciation and art history at various schools and universities.

Caren is a member of: The Vermont Watercolor Society, The Lowcountry Arts Council, Hilton Head Island (SC) Art League, Society of Bluffton Artists (SC), AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. Other Professional Associations include: The National Association of Teachers of Singing and The William Glasser Institute.
